23 children from class A joined 30 children from class F. How many children were there altogether?
In this image we have here, on the top left is the number of children from class A. And the top right would be the number of students from class F. The bottom would be the total as these two classes come together.
To solve this problem, we’ll have to add 23 and 30. When we add numbers like this, we start in the ones place. And we say three plus zero equals three. From there, we move to the 10s place, where we say two plus three equals five. When the two classes come together, there are 53 students. 23 plus 30 equals 53.
