A 25-newton force acts continuously on an object to move it 7.2 meters. How much work is done by the force?

Okay, so in this question, we’ve been told that we’ve got an object on which a 25-newton force is acting. Now this force acts continuously on the object to move it a distance of 7.2 meters. And we’ve been asked to work out how much work is done by the force.

So to do this, we need to recall that the work done on an object is equal to the force applied on the object multiplied by the distance moved by the object. Luckily for us, we’ve already been given the force on the object and the distance moved by the object, so we can work out the work done.

What we need to do is to substitute in the values that we’ve been given in the question. So we can say that the work done on the object is equal to the force on the object, which is 25 newtons, multiplied by the distance moved by the object, which is 7.2 meters.

Now when we evaluate the right-hand side of this equation, we find that 25 multiplied by 7.2 is 180. And remember, the units we need to use are joules because we’ve worked out the work done. And work done has the units of energy. Therefore, we’ve reached our final answer. The work done on the object by the force is 180 joules.
