Lesson Plan: Mechanical Work Physics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to calculate the work done by a force that acts on an object over a distance.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- use the formula in all combinations,
- relate the work done on an object to the change in the energy of the object,
- recognize that energy can be dissipated.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the principle of the conservation of energy,
- Newton’ second law of motion,
- Newton’s third law of motion,
- kinematic formulas (SUVAT).
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- two-dimensional motion.
