Victoria is going to color one-quarter of this circle blue and three-quarters of it orange. Will the whole shape be colored?

One-quarter of the circle should be blue. And three-quarters of it will be orange. We need to remember what quarter means. The word “quarter” means a fourth. One-quarter is the same thing as one-fourth. Three-quarters would be the same thing as three-fourths.

That means our circle will need to be divided into four parts. And one-quarter or one-fourth is blue. Three-quarters or three-fourths is orange. One-fourth plus three-fourths is equal to four-fourths. And that’s the same thing as saying one whole. Is the whole shape colored? Yes, Victoria has colored the whole shape.
