Objectives

Students will be able to

  • count objects already grouped into tens and ones to make a two-digit number,
  • represent two-digit numbers using models,
  • decompose two-digit numbers into tens and ones,
  • group ones into tens and then count the tens and ones.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • the fact that ten ones are equal to a ten,
  • counting forward and backward within 100.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • numbers greater than 99,
  • the place value of two-digit numbers,
  • comparing 2-digit numbers.
