Objectives
Students will be able to
- model word problems with part–whole bar models,
- write an equation to find the missing part or whole in a bar model,
- decide whether to use addition or subtraction to solve a word problem,
- solve one-step word problems.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- writing addition and subtraction equations,
- adding and subtracting two-digit numbers.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- numbers over 100,
- two-step word problems.
