Lesson Plan: Theoretical Probability Mathematics • First Year of Preparatory School
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to interpret a data set by finding and evaluating the theoretical probabilities.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- understand that the theoretical probability of an event is based on the set of all possible outcomes,
- identify the sample space of an experiment from a given description of the system,
- calculate the theoretical probability of an outcome using the sample space.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- sample spaces,
- set notation,
- converting between fractions, decimals, and percents.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- operations on events,
- compound events.
