Objectives

Students will be able to

  • tell the time in 5-minute increments using an analog clock,
  • tell the time in 5-minute increments using a digital clock,
  • understand the position of the hour and minute hands on analog clocks.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • reading and writing the time to the nearest quarter of an hour on analog clocks,
  • skip counting in fives up to 60.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • reading and writing time in words (e.g., “minutes to” or ”minutes past”),
  • use of am and pm,
  • the 24-hour clock.
