Lesson: Control of Blood Glucose Biology • Third Year of Secondary School

Students will be able to

• recall that glucose is obtained from food in the diet,
• describe how changes in internal environments are detected by the body,
• explain how insulin decreases blood sugar levels in the body,
• explain how glucagon increases blood sugar levels in the body,
• outline how the control of blood glucose is an example of negative feedback,
• suggest what symptoms a person who does not release enough insulin (a diabetic) may have.
