Students will be able to
- recall the position of the adrenal glands in the body,
- describe the structure of the adrenal gland in terms of the medulla and the cortex,
- categorize hormones released by the adrenal cortex into glucocorticoids, mineralcorticoids, and the sex hormones, and outline their functions,
- recall that the hormones released by the adrenal medulla are adrenaline (epinephrine) and noradrenaline (norepinephrine) and describe the changes they bring about in the body in the fight or flight response.
