In this lesson, we will learn how to define and evaluate functions and find the roots and the maximum or minimum of quadratic functions.

Students will be able to

understand how a function is defined as well as what the domain, range, and roots of a function are,
evaluate functions using substitution,
find the roots of linear and quadratic (or quadratic-like) functions by solving them,
find the input values for which two polynomial functions are equal,
identify the minimum or maximum value of a quadratic function by finding its vertex form.
