• describe that atoms are composed of a nucleus and electrons,
• describe the nucleus as containing positively charged particles called protons,
• describe the nucleus as containing neutral particles called neutrons,
• explain why atoms are electrically neutral,
• explain and determine the atomic number,
• explain what electrons are,
• describe what the mass number is,
• calculate the mass number of an atom,
• identify the atomic number and mass number from the elemental symbol.
