How many inputs does a NOT gate have?
To answer this question about the number of inputs to a NOT gate, it’s going to be useful to recall what it is that a NOT gate actually does. A NOT gate acts to negate the input value. The symbol for a NOT gate is a triangle oriented so that one of its corners is pointing to the right, and on this rightward pointing corner there’s a small circle.
Since all that a NOT gate does is to negate the value that’s input to it, this means that a NOT gate must take a single input value, which it then negates to produce a single output. So our answer to this question is that a NOT gate has one input.
