Video Transcript

Write 0.6433 in words.

Our first step is to work out which place value column each of our digits is in. The six is in the tenths column. The four is in the hundredths column. The first three is in the thousandths column. And finally, the second three is in the ten thousandths column.

As this three is the last digit, the way we will write or say this number is by working out how many ten thousandths we have altogether. If we ignore the decimal point, the number after the decimal point, 6433, would be written six thousand four hundred and thirty-three.

This means that, in words, 0.6433 can be written as six thousand four hundred and thirty-three ten thousandths.
