In a patisserie, in order to bake one sponge cake, two cups of flour and four eggs are needed. How many eggs are needed to bake 48 sponge cakes?

So one sponge cake takes two cups of flour and four eggs. But we don’t want to just make one sponge cake. We want to make 48 of them. We want 48 times as many cakes. And that’s gonna take 48 times as much flour and 48 times as many eggs. Now, the question is asking specifically how many eggs are needed to bake 48 sponge cakes? So this is the only part of the calculation we’re really interested in. And to calculate 48 times as many eggs as four, we need to multiply four by 48. And that gives us 192. So the answer is to make 48 sponge cakes, we’re going to need 192 eggs.
