Lesson Plan: Optical Illusions caused by Refraction
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to understand how refraction can appear to change the positions of objects from their actual positions.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- recognize that some optical illusions are due to refraction,
- show how refractory optical illusions occur using ray diagrams.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- how a light ray’s direction changes at media boundaries.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- any calculations,
- any illusions not due to refraction.
