Lesson Plan: Making Graphs
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to identify the parts of a bar graph and a picture graph and compare the two types of graphs.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- define data,
- identify the parts of a picture graph, including the title, labels, and key,
- identify the parts of a bar graph, including the title, labels, scale, and bars,
- compare and contrast bar graphs and picture graphs.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- classifying and grouping things,
- counting things up to at least 21,
- identifying things.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- analyzing graphs,
- answering questions about graphs.
