Objectives
Students will be able to
- add fractions with the same denominator and simplify the result if necessary,
- subtract fractions with the same denominator and simplify the result if necessary,
- add and subtract more than two fractions,
- represent calculations with models, including bar models.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- adding fractions with the same denominator without simplifying,
- subtracting fractions with the same denominator without simplifying,
- converting between improper fractions and mixed numbers,
- simplifying fractions.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators.
