Objectives
Students will be able to
- use a calculator to convert proper fractions, improper fractions, and mixed numbers to recurring decimals,
- use a calculator to convert recurring decimals to proper fractions, improper fractions, or mixed numbers,
- interpret word problems that require conversion of a fraction or mixed number to a recurring decimal.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- negative numbers (fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals),
- converting between mixed numbers and fractions,
- converting between fractions and decimals (where the decimal terminates),
- numerical long division.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- percentages,
- ratios,
- performing conversions without a calculator.
