Objectives
Students will be able to
- identify negative numbers on a number line,
- place negative numbers on a number line,
- identify a number and its opposite on a number line,
- understand the relationship between a number and its opposite on a number line,
- understand that zero is neither positive nor negative and it is always halfway between a number and its opposite.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- using number lines to model positive numbers.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- ordering or comparing integers,
- adding or subtracting integers.
