Students will be able to

  • use models to represent the numbers 14, 15, and 16,
  • describe the numbers 14, 15, and 16 in terms of 10 ones and 4, 5, or 6 more ones,
  • solve problems where it is necessary to know how to decompose 14, 15, or 16 into 10 ones and some more ones.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • making numbers from 1–13,
  • reading and writing numbers up to 20,
  • counting to 20.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • modeling numbers other than 14, 15, or 16,
  • number sentences (representing values as additions).
