Objectives
Students will be able to
- understand and use the rule for zero exponents,
- understand and use the rule for negative exponents,
- combine the rules for zero and negative exponents with the other exponent laws to evaluate numerical and algebraic expressions,
- simplify and write zero and negative exponent expressions in terms of positive exponents.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the rules of exponents.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- powers with noninteger exponents.
