Lesson Plan: Position and Motion
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe an object’s position and motion.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- define the terms position and relative position,
- describe the positions and relative positions of objects,
- define the term direction,
- define the terms motion and relative motion,
- describe the motion of an object using distance, time, direction, and speed,
- describe speed as a measure of how quickly or slowly an object travels,
- perform calculations involving speed, distance, and time.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- words used to describe relative positions, such as in front of, behind, above, and below,
- using rulers to measure distances,
- multiplying and dividing whole numbers within the multiplication tables up to .
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- balanced and unbalanced forces.
