This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to read and write time to the hour on both analog and digital clocks.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- read and write time to the hour on a digital clock,
- read and write time to the hour on an analog clock,
- write a time to the hour in digital form when given the time in words (e.g., seven o’clock = 7:00),
- identify the analog and digital clocks that show the same time (to the hour).
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- analog clocks,
- digital clocks,
- times expressed in words (e.g., twelve o’clock),
- written numerals through 12.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- times written to the half hour or quarter hour,
- elapsed time,
- am or pm.
