Objectives
Students will be able to
- break apart the subtrahend in an equation to make 10,
- model subtraction on a number line:
- subtract to make 10,
- subtract the remaining ones,
- write a subtraction equation showing the subtraction of a one-digit number from a teen number,
- subtract using labeled number lines and open number lines.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- recognizing that a teen number is made from a ten and some ones.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- minuends greater than 19.
