This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to identify ratio notation and use it to describe the relationship between two quantities.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- use ratio to describe the relationship between two quantities, expressed with ratio notation,
- use ratio to describe the relationship between two quantities, expressed as a fraction,
- compare ratios by comparing fractions.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- expressing ratios in words,
- modeling ratios.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- simplifying ratios,
- ratios with more than two parts.
