Lesson Plan: Sequence Formulas Mathematics • Second Year of Secondary School
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to find the general term or a recursive formula for a sequence and how to use them to work out terms in the sequence.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- identify a specified number of terms of a sequence, or a specific term, given the general term or a recursive formula,
- identify properties of a sequence given its general term or a recursive relationship, for example, determining if the sequence is increasing or decreasing,
- find the general term of a sequence,
- find a recursive formula for the sequence.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- sequence notation.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- sigma notation,
- sequence sums.
