Objectives
Students will be able to
- rewrite monic quadratics by completing the square,
- rewrite nonmonic quadratics by completing the square,
- verify that a rewrite using completing the square is correct by expanding and simplifying,
- find unknown coefficients by using a given identity from completing the square.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- factoring perfect square trinomials,
- factoring quadratics,
- operations on polynomials.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- solving equations,
- graphing quadratics and the vertex form.
