Lesson Plan: Cables and Plugs Physics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to wire a plug and recall the purpose of each wire in the plug.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- recall what each wire in a UK plug is for,
- recall what color each wire is,
- recall basic facts about power grid electricity in the UK:
- that it is an alternating current,
- that it is at 230 V.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- what electric potential difference is,
- what electric current is,
- how objects can be grounded to prevent electric shocks.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- plug wirings from countries other than the UK.
