Lesson Plan: Angle-Angle Triangle Similarity

This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to determine whether two triangles are similar using the equality of corresponding angles (angle–angle criteria) and use the similarity to find unknown angles.

Objectives

Students will be able to

  • determine whether two triangles are similar using the angle–angle criterion,
  • use similarity to find unknown angles.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • similarity of triangles,
  • angle relationships and parallel lines.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • similarity problems involving area or volume,
  • SSS and SAS triangle similarity.
