Objectives

Students will be able to

  • find 1, 10, 100, or 1,000 more or less than a given number,
  • add or subtract 1, 10, 100, or 1,000 from a number,
  • count forward or backward from any starting number in 1s, 10s, 100s, or 1,000s,
  • find missing numbers in sequences counting in 1s, 10s, 100s, or 1,000s.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • the place value of four-digit numbers.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • adding or subtracting four-digit numbers that are not multiples of 1, 10, 100, or 1,000.
