Objectives
Students will be able to
- state where stem cells are found,
- describe the function of stem cells in plants and animals,
- describe the potential benefits and risks of using stem cells in medicine,
- outline how cell fractionation can be used to study the components of cells.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- cells as the basic unit of living organisms,
- the fact that cells contain smaller components (organelles).
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- the process of cell differentiation.
