Objectives

Students will be able to

  • define a prime number as a number greater than 1 with exactly two factors,
  • define a composite number as a number greater than 1 with more than two factors,
  • use models to decide if a number is prime or composite,
  • list factors to decide if a number is prime or composite,
  • investigate properties of prime and composite numbers.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • the factors of numbers.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • numbers greater than 100,
  • dividing by two-digit numbers.
