Lesson Plan: Engineering Design Process Science
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to define the engineering design process (EDP), identify its steps and their importance, and apply the steps to real-life engineering examples.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- define the engineering design process,
- describe the steps in the engineering design process,
- describe the importance of each step in the process,
- apply the engineering design process steps to real-life engineering examples.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- external body parts of birds,
- needs of the plants,
- measuring tools and units.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- differences between the engineering design process and the scientific method,
- the more advanced and detailed steps of the engineering design process.
