Lesson: Sum of an Infinite Geometric Sequence Mathematics

Students will be able to

• understand when a geometric series is convergent and, thus, has a finite sum (i.e., when ),
• find the sum of a convergent infinite geometric sequence using the formula , given sufficient information about the sequence,
• convert recurring decimals to fractions by finding the sum of a geometric sequence.
