Counting Objects up to 20
In this video, we will learn how to
count up to 20 objects arranged in different ways. When we’re counting large groups of
objects, sometimes it helps to arrange the objects in different ways. We could place the apples into ten
frames to help us count. We’ve placed 10 apples into our ten
frame. We need another ten frame. Let’s carry on counting from
10. 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19,
20. We filled two ten frames with
apples. Two groups of 10 makes 20.
We could count this group of apples
by arranging them in a straight line. This will make it easier to count
them. One, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, eight, nine, 10. We’ve made a group of 10. Let’s start a new line and keep on
counting from number 10. 11, 12. Both groups have 12 apples. It doesn’t matter how we arrange
the apples; the number is still the same. Let’s practice counting objects up
to 20.
How many items are in the
group?
Let’s arrange the items in a
straight line to help us count them. One, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12. We arranged the items into two
lines. A line of 10 and two more. 10 and two more is 12. There are 12 items in the
group.
How many in the group?
We’re shown a group of insects. We need to count them to find out
how many there are. One, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, eight, nine, 10. We’ve made a group of 10, and one
more makes 11. There are 11 insects in the
group. We made a group of 10 and counted
one more. One more than 10 is 11.
How many frogs are there?
We could place the frogs in
straight lines to help us count them. Here is one line of frogs. Now, we’ve lined all of the frogs
up. Let’s count how many frogs there
are in each line. One, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, eight, nine, 10. Let’s carry on counting from number
10. 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19,
20. We arranged the frogs into two
lines of 10 to help us count them. There are 20 frogs.
