Putting Objects Together
In this video, we will learn how to
count within 10 to find the total number of objects when we combine two groups.
Here’s some leftover fruit from
snack time. How many oranges are there? One, two, three. And there are one, two apples. To help us count the total number
of pieces of fruit, we could place them all together. Let’s put all the oranges and all
the apples into one group. Let’s start with the oranges. Here’s one, two, three. Now, let’s add the apples. One, two. Now that we’ve put all the pieces
of fruit together, we can count them to see how many pieces of fruit there are in
total. One, two, three, four, five. Three and two is five. We have three oranges and two
apples, and we put them all together to make a total of five pieces of fruit. When we combine two groups of
objects together, it helps us to count how many we have in total.
Let’s practise combining two groups
together to help us find the total.
Find the missing number. Three yellow cars and one blue car
is what cars.
To help us find the total number of
cars, we could put them all together in one group. How many cars do we have
altogether? Let’s count. One, two, three, four. Three yellow cars and one blue car
is four cars. Three and one is four. We found the total number of cars
by putting the cars together into one group. Three yellow cars and one blue car
is four cars.
Count the toys. Find the missing number. Five and three is what?
We’re shown two groups of toys. There are five toy helicopters and
three toy trains. We have to count the total number
of toys. If we put all the toys together, we
can count the total. Let’s count the total number of
toys. One, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, eight. Five and three is eight. There are five toy helicopters and
three toy trains. There are eight toys
altogether.
Complete: four yellow balloons and
five green balloons is what balloons.
We know there are four yellow
balloons and five green balloons. We have to find out how many
balloons there are altogether. To count the total amount, we need
to count all of the yellow balloons and all of the green balloons. Let’s count. One, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, eight, nine. Four yellow balloons and five green
balloons makes nine balloons. Four plus five is nine.
What have we learned in this
video? We’ve learned that we can combine
two groups of objects to help us find the total.
