Lesson Plan: Angles in Quadrilaterals
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to find the sum of angle measures in a quadrilateral and the measure of unknown angles.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- investigate and measure angles in quadrilaterals and conclude that they add up to 360 degrees,
- recognize that quadrilaterals can be divided into two triangles, each having a total measure of 180 degrees,
- find the measure of an unknown angle in a quadrilateral.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- using a protractor to measure angles,
- using addition and subtraction to find the measures of unknown angles,
- the fact that the sum of angles in a triangle always equals 180 degrees.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- algebra and formulae.
