Lesson Plan: Graphing Simple Quadratic Functions Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to graph and interpret quadratic functions of the form 𝑦 = 𝑘𝑥² + 𝑐.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- complete a table of values for a quadratic function of the form ,
- sketch a graph of a quadratic function of the form using a table of values given an interval over which to graph,
- identify the equation of a quadratic function of the form given its graph,
- identify what happens to our graph when we change the values of the constants in our function.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- function notation,
- sketching a graph from a table of values,
- identifying and evaluating polynomial functions,
- graphing linear functions.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- sketching graphs of quadratic functions of the form .
