Lesson Plan: Theoretical Probability Mathematics • 7th Grade
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe and calculate theoretical probabilities.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- define theoretical probability,
- use the language of probability to describe the chances of events based on facts and reasoning,
- calculate the probability of an event based on facts and reasoning,
- compare and combine simple theoretical probabilities.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- basic probability language, such as the terms certain, likely, and impossible,
- how to use fractions to describe probabilities.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- experimental probabilities,
- compound probabilities,
- writing probabilities as decimals.
