Lesson Plan: Inverse of a Matrix: The Adjoint Method Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to find the inverse of 3 × 3 matrices using the adjoint method.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- find the cofactor matrix,
- find the adjoint matrix,
- find the inverse of a matrix using the adjoint method,
- solve problems by finding the inverse of a matrix using the adjoint method,
- check if a matrix is singular or not.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- finding the determinant of a matrix.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- finding the inverse of a matrix using elementary row operations,
- finding the inverse of a matrix with an order higher than using the adjoint method.
