Lesson Plan: Probability: Certain, Likely, Unlikely, Impossible Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe probability using words like certain, likely, equally likely, even chance, unlikely, and impossible.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- use the language of probability to describe the likelihood of events occurring,
- use the language of probability to compare whether one event is more or less likely than another.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- fractions,
- graphs and charts,
- factors and multiples.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- calculating probabilities,
- describing probabilities using numerical values.
