Lesson Plan: The Water Cycle
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to identify and describe the parts of the water cycle including evaporation and condensation.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- explain that the same water continually moves around Earth in the water cycle,
- identify the steps of the water cycle,
- describe the state of water at each stage of the water cycle,
- define evaporation and condensation,
- describe the effect that temperature has on the rate of evaporation.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the three states of matter and the name of water at each of these states,
- changes in the states of matter, including melting, freezing, evaporating, and condensing.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- transpiration.
