Lesson Plan: Measuring Length to the Nearest Quarter of an Inch

Objectives
Students will be able to
- recognize that the half-inch marking on a ruler divides an inch into two equal parts,
- use a ruler to measure objects to the nearest half inch,
- understand that the quarter-inch marking on a ruler divides an inch into four equal parts,
- use a ruler to measure to the nearest quarter inch,
- solve simple word problems regarding measuring to the nearest half and quarter inch.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- measuring to the nearest inch.
