Video Transcript

69 plus 11 equals what?

69 and 11 are both two-digit numbers. Two-digit numbers have a tens digit and a ones digit. We can add the ones first. Nine and one are a pair that make 10. Now we can add together the tens part of each of our two-digit numbers. Six tens and one ten makes seven tens. Now all we need to do is add together the total of the ones and the total of the tens to give us our answer. 70 and 10 more makes 80. 69 plus 11 equals 80.
