What is 12.5 percent of 408?

In order to evaluate this, we need to figure out what the word of means. In mathematics, the word of means to multiply. So we want to multiply 12.5 percent and 408 together. So now we need to rewrite 12.5 percent as a decimal. And to go from a percent to a decimal, we need to do a few things.

Our first step will be to drop the percent sign. Now, we need to move the decimal point two places to the left: one, two. So here is our new decimal point. So we have .125. And it’s always a good idea to add a zero right in front of the decimal point if there’s no number there. That way the decimal point sticks out.

So now let’s replace 12.5 percent with 0.125 and 0.125 times 408 is equal to 51. So this will be our final answer.
