100 take away what equals 52.

What number can we take from 100 to give us 52? We can change the order of these two numbers. If we work out 100 take away 52, that would tell us the missing number. 52 has five tens, which is worth 50, and two ones, which is worth two. So we could take away 50 from 100 and then take away two. 100 take away 50 is 50. 50 take away two is 48. So the missing number is 48. 100 take away 52 is 48.

So 100 take away 48 is 52.
