The closest distance between Earth and Mars is 33.92 million miles. Write the decimal as a mixed number in its simplest form.

So we wanna take 33.92 and write it as a mixed number. So a mixed number will have a whole number and then a fraction form of a number. So 33, we will keep. That will be our whole number.

However, the .92 needs to be rewritten as a fraction that’s simplified. The nine is in the tenths place and the two is in the hundredths place. So we based it off of the number all the way to the right, that place.

So it’s going to be ninety-two one hundredths. Now this can reduce now they each can be divided by fours. They both have a factor of four we can simplify with. And it turns into twenty-three twenty-fifths. Therefore, our decimal rewritten as a mixed number will be 33 and twenty-three twenty-fifths.
