Identify the three-dimensional figure that the given net makes.

Here’s a net that’s been cut out out of this shape. What we’ll do is fold the net on each of the inside lines, the dotted lines in pink here. And there it is. After you folded this net completely up, what three-dimensional figure is this? What did our net make?

Our net had a triangular base. The faces are meeting at a vertex. And the faces meeting at the vertex are all triangles. So we call it a triangular pyramid, “triangular” because of the type of base and “pyramid” because the faces meeting at the vertex are all triangles. The three-dimensional figure that the given net makes is a triangular pyramid.
