Write 0.12 as a percentage.

First, we recall that a terminating decimal 𝑑 can be expressed as a percentage 𝑝 percent, where 𝑝 equals 𝑑 multiplied by 100. We know that multiplying a decimal by 100 results in all digits being moved two place values to the left. Using a decimal place value table may help us to move the correct number of places. We begin with a zero in the ones place, one in the tenths place, and two in the hundredths place. Then in order to multiply by 100, we move all digits two places to the left. The result is one in the tens place and two in the ones place. Therefore, the terminating decimal 0.12 can be expressed as the percentage 12 percent.
